This 1964 Jaguar XKE Roadster is a Series 1 that documents a complete three-year restoration, completed in 1998 by the marque's specialists. Power comes from the original 3.8-liter twin-cam six-cylinder engine, and the current owner has added approximately 15,000 miles since purchasing the car in February 2009.
According to the Heritage Trust certificate, Carmen Red was the original exterior color. The car was repainted in its current white shade during the restoration in the late 1990s.
A stainless steel exhaust system was added last year, and 15” chrome wire knock-off wheels are wrapped in Vredenstein tires from 2011. The black soft top displays a clear rear window and is pictured from a number of angles in the gallery below.
The spear seats were re-covered in black leather during the restoration and the driver’s side bolster was recently repaired as detailed in the gallery. Door panels, carpeting, and interior trim appear complete, with correct Series 1 toggle switches and a wood-wrapped three-spoke aluminum steering wheel.
A new windshield and seals was installed in 2011, and halogen interior bulbs were added. 19k miles are indicated on the odometer, with true mileage unknown.
The original 3.8L inline-six is paired to a 4-speed manual transmission and features an additional electric cooling fan, as well as a Pertronix distributor and coil. The battery, voltage stabilizer, and fan relay are newer. A signature from Norman Dewis is located under the bonnet and is pictured in the gallery.
Additional services performed by the current owner include a radiator service and cleaning, coated exhaust manifolds, rebuilt brake and clutch masters, a rebuilt slave cylinder and generator, new voltage regulator, and balanced carburetors. A hot compression test performed in June showed 170-175 psi across all six cylinders.
