This 1964 Porsche 356SC Karmann Coupe is finished in Light Ivory with a black leatherette interior and is described as a survivor with a known repaint in the original color. Power is provided by a numbers-matching 1.6-liter, four-cylinder boxer engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission. After a period of storage, the selling dealer put the car back into service in November 2017 with a new fuel tank, rebuilt brakes, front suspension work, new axle boots, a tune-up and more, as detailed below.
The exterior was reportedly refinished many years ago in the original shade of Light Ivory (6404) due to age and general wear. Modifications include a set of chrome 5.5″ wheels from Gary Emory, and an Oregon region PCA badge is affixed to one of the rear grilles. Photos of the Karmann body tag are shown in the gallery below.
Prior to the seller’s acquisition, the car had been in storage for a number of years. A November 2017 refresh included a new fuel tank and lines, rebuilding the four-wheel disc brakes, and installing a full set of replacement Koni shocks. The front suspension also received a complete rebuild at this time, including new kingpins and bushings.
The cabin features black leatherette upholstery, square weave carpet, and factory rubber floor mats. Some patina is noticeable on the gauge trim rings, knobs, and contact points. 6,234 miles are shown on the odometer, which is believed to have rolled over once.
Notable differences between the SC and C engines from the factory include higher compression pistons, a more aggressive camshaft, and a pair of 40mm Solex carburetors. Factory-rated output for the 1.6-liter flat-four was 95 hp at 5800 rpm.
A new Dansk muffler has also been installed, and both rear axle shafts have been resealed and fitted with new boots. Additional photos of the wheel wells.
