This 1947 Cadillac is finished in gray over red leather and powered by a 346ci L-head V8 mated with a later dual-range Hydramatic 4-speed automatic transmission. The car is reported to have spent time in the western US prior to its recent acquisition by the selling dealer, and a 1990s body-on restoration is said to have included a bare-metal repaint, engine/transmission rebuild, new interior, rechroming of brightwork, and more.
The trim plate specifies French Gray (10) as the original color, and the seller states that the 1990s repaint was performed using lacquer. The finish is said to hold a deep shine except for light checking on the top of the passenger side fender, as pointed out by the seller.
Steel wheels are painted red and wear “sombrero” covers along with wide whitewall radial tires. Chrome is said to be triple-plated throughout, and the car is optioned with fog lights.
The black woven soft top features red piping and a zip-out glass rear window, which can be seen opened in the gallery. The car is recognized as a full classic by the CCCA, and is said to have been a regular participant on Grand CARavan tours.
The car was optioned with a tan Bedford Cord and Red Leather (56) interior which was replaced during the 1990s work, as were the tan carpets. A 6-volt electrical system has been retained and the hydro-electric seat, windows, and top are said to function as intended along with the under-seat automatic heater.
A 3-spoke steering wheel fronts a painted steel dash with a trio of round gauges. A clock and optional pushbutton AM radio are equipped, though the former is not working and the latter emits only buzzing sounds per the seller. Approximately 43k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer.
The 346ci L-head V8 was originally rated at 150 horsepower and is paired with a 4-speed dual-range Hydra-Matic transmission from a 1954 model. The engine retains a stock oil-bath air cleaner and is said to have been rebuilt in the 1990s, though supporting records are unavailable. A fluids change was reportedly conducted prior to a road trip about 1,000 miles ago.
